Ride Time!

Remember ride time is now on the Winter Schedule.  9:00 a.m. still same place (116th and I-69 Fishers Shell) and if there is no moisture on the roads or threatening storms.  I don' think there are any of us as staunch and these guys and gals!

 

Sat Ride 9-4-10

We had a good ride to Alexandra for breakfast then on to the Marion Air/Car/Tractor Show.  Very windy day and there were not as many planes flying in as usual.  Lots of interesting stuff though.  Here are some pics.

2010 Red Bull Indy MotoGP

This is a fun weekend if you took in the motorcycling events in the city surrounding the GP race.  The Downtown Indy was just crazy with bikes of all types and international people.  Sat nite was rock'in into the wee hours with bands and bike stuff in all blocked off streets of downtown.  The XDL Stunt Bike Championships took place on a street north of the War Memorial.  The Fair Grounds hosted the Mile Dirt Track races.  Then the GP Sunday.  Here are a few pics.  The rest, along with videos I hope, will be on the www.sonsofthunder.myphotoalbum.com

Sat Ride 8-28-10

Seven of us met and road to New Castel at Rt.36 Resturant.  Nice ride through the countryside.  On the way back, John W. wanted to stop in anderson at the Cow Polks for a belt.  We wound our way through the counties untill we wnded up 2 blocks form the place.  We went back to Carmel to Phil's cycle garage and put Dyna Beads in the tires of Ed T. and John W's bikes.  The rest of the weekend was the MotoGP, more on that later.

   

  

Sat. Ride 8-7-10

We had a small group of riders that met and rode to Lebanon for breakfast.  Nice weather gave us a jacket ride there and then warmed us nicely on the way home.

Sat Ride 7-31-10

We had a good turn-out last Sat.  Nine of us road to Greensburg for breakfast (almost brunch).  Wayne lead us there on his new Ducati through the back roads.  After breakfast the majority headed for home and Chuck,  Alan, Pastor Dave and myself went on through the countryside and ended up in Metamora.  We stopped and talked to Mayor Jim.  He is in bad health and was lying in an adjustable bed in the front room of the Trappers Rendezvous.  He said he has lost everything and is selling his farm.  Pastor Dave and I had a prayer with him that he appreciated.  Just outside of town it started to rain.  We stopped and got on what gear we had and proceeded home.

Sat. Ride 7-24-10

We had a good group ride last week.  We had 10 bikes with 12 riders.  Good to have Jim Swan's daughter in-law along too.  Cynthia  showed up and introduced to a friend, Shelly, who rides a Shadow 750 and hopefully will come along with us soon.  We took the Wayne's Way to Shelbyville  to Grandma's and then back home.  Too hot for much longer.  It was good to have pastor Dave Mullins along on his Harley Sporty too.  We we even had BMW Dave Quiring along.  Wanye made an announcement that he purchased a new Ducati 1200S MultiStrada and it is to be in this week.

2010 Rockers Reunion

The 2010 Rockers Reunion was held at the Melody Inn bar at 38th and Illinois.  Put on by the Ton-Up Indy guys and gals.  This was a cool showing of classic bikes of all types.  The number of bikes was good also lineing both sides of the block with lots of people checking out the iron.  A couple of guys from Detroit rolled in and parked beside me.  Fun event!  Click on pic to enlarge.  More pics at www.sonsofthunder.myphotoalbum.com

Texas Trip!

Eight of us took an 8-day 3,600 mile trip to south western Texas the end of April.  Those riding were Bruce Schemehorn, John Weikel, Don Stogsdill, Chuck Martonicz, John Bornemann (Joliet, Il.), Wayne Williams, Phil Brecheisen, and myself. We had a great trip.  Saw some beautiful country.  Texas is a country not a state.  We only covered the top two thirds of the state and not very complete at that.  We started in the rain until south of St. Louis. We were blessed with good weather for most of the ride.  We had a bubble of no rain we followed home in between the tornados and heavy weather that hit the south.  Great sights and fellowship.  Click pic to enlarge.  More pics at: www.sonsofthunder.myphotoalbum.com

 Chuck's friends Lynn and LeAnn from Cedar Park, TX (Austin) met us and took us to a fabulous club called Oasis on Sunday nite.  We met some others from his church there.  The place was rock'in and over looked a great lake at sunset.

         
 Lynn and his cousin met us the next morning and led us through the back hills of Texas to a series of roads called the 3 Twisted Sisters.  Good riding.  Lynn road a Harley Trike and hammered through the turns.  Some cool points of interest along the way too.  They took us to Del Rio and stayed the nite then rode back home the next morning.  Thanks Lynn!!

Ride Time!

We are on summer hours now and we will meet at 8:00 at the 116th Street and I-69 Shell station for Sat. morning rides.  This spring has been a strange one and we  haven't been together much at all.  We are back on schedule unless it is raining there should be a ride.
